I think the connection is indirect, as in, porn makes men more abusive and depraved sexually, girls are taught not to 'kink-shame', and they process their dislike of pornbrained male behaviour as evidence that they're not really women.

The memoir is entirely incoherent. It's difficult to parse out what's happening when, and how or why. I don't think Ellen understands what's going on herself. That said I know she's very involved with the Human Right Campaign and says in the memoir she feels best when hanging out with her trans friends, so it seems like there are a lot of outside influences compounded by the isolation of COVID lockdown.
