I love Nirvana but I was listening to them the other day and I began thinking about the way that most of rock and roll is oriented to young people, kids really, to highschoolers and early twenty year olds is something that makes me doubt it's universal artistic merit. The Velvet Underground's "elevated" lofty artistic aspirations, to be "rock and roll for adults" as Lou Reed put it once really appeals. I feel sometimes that I won't always appreciate Nirvana because it's just slightly too juvenile, which isn't a bad thing except for the lack of brevity of the human experience.
Do you think this is as important as I do? Do you think The Velvets live up to Lou's apsirations for it?
there doesn't seem to be anything here
