I’m keeping this straightforward, but it isn’t the most brief, because there’s a couple of things I have to say. I already had some points of disagreement, and recent events have been the tipping point that made me want to express myself. This post is directed to you, /u/magnora7.

First of all, I want to acknowledge the hard work you're putting into keeping this site running and fending off all the attacks. You’re doing that effectively and I’m sure not many people can. Thank you for that.

I’d like to clearly distance myself from the LXXX nonsense. I’m sure they get paid to be divisive. I don’t support that.

That being said, please take note that it’s their job to find legitimate problems with how this site is being run, and present those in a divisive way. The problem is with their presentation, but they have valid points. Specifically, I’m talking about /u/diogenesjunior’s ban. I liked him too. Banning an established member isn’t something small, especially considering the size of this community. Why'd he get banned? Be transparent about it at least.

Your disregard for people being established goes beyond that; you've warned /u/JasonCarswell for asking reasonable questions. This doesn't sit well with me. I've even checked a few times to make sure he hasn't been banned.

I don’t agree in general with the arbitrary and serendipitous way in which you ban people. Saidit’s supposed to be a bastion of free speech, but it isn’t really that if you can’t express your views in support of nazism or pedophilia / ephebophilia. I don’t support either of those myself, but I do believe that people who disagree about matters can politely discuss it. Could you explain what harm is being done so long when people express their views? In this post you equate the use of a ‘40s propaganda image to the promotion of violence. /u/x0x7 made a good reductio ad absurdum here, which you never replied to. If you want Saidit to remain palatable, even if it means excluding people with certain views, at least be honest about it. And why not just take that sub off of /s/all or delete it, then? Why does the user have to be permanently banned? It’s kind of a dick move if someone doesn’t get a single warning and discovers they’ve been banned. That’s exactly how Reddit’s being run.

I don’t support /u/JasonCarswell’s call for a strike either. You go on strike when the conditions at work are unacceptable, but going on strike on an Internet forum is a bit odd. You should be free to run this site as you see fit. This is the only time I’ll make a thread about this: I’m offering you this constructive criticism because I want to convince you that there’s a better way to run a site. Now, I’ve noticed you don’t often reply to threads like these. Maybe you think you have better things to do with your life, we can’t tell if you don’t explain. I’m voicing myself to show you that listening to the userbase is also an essential part of administrating a website. Don’t brush everything off as ‘paid shills being divisive,’ because I’m far from the only established member who’s discontent.

Just as you’re free to run this site the way you want, we’re free to flock elsewhere if we’re discontent. That's where the balance comes from. And I believe that that’s exactly what you’re trying to prevent. So please be reasonable and find a middle ground with us.

I hope the point is clear now: this is too big to ignore.
