Reddit sucks. Is SaidIt better?

I'm new to SaidIt, but god-damn does Reddit suck. The company sucks. The mods suck. What the company did to defiant mods sucks. The typical Reddit user sucks. There is no conversations about any subject on Reddit. It's all my click vs your click and ad hominem attacks. Intelligent, adult conversation isn't a thing on Reddit.

Is SaidIt better? Do people here engage in adult conversations even about controversial topics? Do people actually listen to their opposing side to make a compelling counter-argument instead of strawman and calling everybody an "-ist"? Do people have actual dialog with others on SaidIt? I really hope so. I'm sick and tired of what Reddit has become.

Better than reddit, but it's increasingly turning into reddit's opposite (everyone just hates black people and gays and trannies instead of the white Christian cishet patriarchy). But fortunately those people aren't the management.

There are some of those types here, but it's not fair to say that "everyone" hates gay, black and trans people. I don't, though I don't approve of young children being sexualized in schools which would be categorized in some circles as "hate".

Yeah, there's overall a lot of diversity here. Saidit is also relatively politically neutral still as well. There's a lot of hateful people over here but nothing that can't be fixed.

There definitely isn't. Anywhere. You have to be religiously devoted to a coalition or you're "part of the problem".

I believe a Sith lord is in control of the republic. And I think there will be a holocaust against all Christians and libertarians, once the religious right inevitably becomes disgusted with Jesus and rejects Christianity. The plan is to turn everyone against Christians, and against people who won't worship the almighty state.

There are some good discussions here, but you still get strawman arguments, echo chambers, ad hominems , etc. I think these are as much standard human interaction problems as reddit problems. The difference between saidit and reddit is that controversial (but legal) statements will not be censored here.

I think right now it is because it's young and people have conversations on here. And by conversations, I mean free of censorship for the most part. You won't get brigaded or banned just because you're not drunk on the local kool-aid. Reddit used to be like that, at least on some of the more specific subs, but now it's full of people just shouting their slogans, not doing any critical thinking, and trying hard to cancel anyone who doesn't rabidly agree with the narrative, which is decidedly leftist.

Reddit is a horrible website. Even if saidit was at least "decent", it would be miles ahead.

I like Saidit. However to use it I need to block a bunch of people, use the friends system extensively, and have to stir up conversation instead of relying on it organically. It's a bit troublesome.

But honestly, worth it. I think once you figure the site out it's just like old reddit. Old reddit was what no current reddit or clones will ever be, it was perfect and we can't have that back but what we have here is close.

There will always be one or two in here that will attack every idea that you present.
