Let's try the following for a week & discuss what to do next after that in the spirit of PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act/Adjust)

 
A. Suggestion for a PDCA trial run:
1. For all subs without active mods, set to 'read only' until mods are appointed
2. Turn off Cloudflare (Edit: Video Tutorial: 'How To Turn Off Cloudflare On A Website?')

 
B. Expected Outcome:
1. Fewer subs available for posting, but all have active mod(s)
2. Spam bots will overrun the place but they can only post/comment in:

1. existing actively modded subs, where they will be removed by the sub mods
   
2. new subs they create: Users viewing 'Subscribed' will not notice them. Users viewing 'All' can click 'mute sub' or 'block user', or both.
   

 
C. Expected Improvements:

1. Better transparency to the spam bots issue (via mod log) AND
   
2. The SaidIt community directly deals with them - not through a third party: Cloudflare.
   Subs with active mods are already removing bots but some extra effort possible
   
3. No more "verify you are human" BS.
    
   In effect, spam bots will help drive traffic count for SaidIt, whilst real SaidIt users can (hopefully) effectively deal with them without the obnoxious Cloudflare.
