I know povidone iodine is a chemical complex of polyvinylpyrrolidone, elemental iodine, and hydrogen iodide, and the normal 10% povidone-iodine equals about 1% of titratable iodine.
Lugol's solution is a solution of potassium iodide with elemental iodine. It is normally a concentration of 2%.
And the stuff I am currently using topically is a 2% solution of sodium iodine. Does anyone know what benefit, if any, Lugol's would have over this?
Or if dissolving iodide in alcohol or distilled water isn't just as good, and more cost effective? Or DMSO for that matter
