Work with your state legislators to ensure that the problems in your state are corrected before the next election. Paper ballots, certification of voting machine software, oversight of ballots, registration and validation of voters - every weakness corrected. And realize that the result must be accepted as fair by everyone, not just Trump fans. Realize that means working with and gaining the trust of people who voted for someone else. The process has to be non-partisan to succeed.

A few years back I read a book by some sort of brain scientist, I forget the details, but their research showed that people start with the conclusion and then they look for supporting evidence, although they believe the opposite - that they have arrived at the conclusion after weighing the evidence. This is due to the bio-mechanical structure of our brains, that's how the mechanism works, the neural pathways and such. Once a position is taken, people will posit and believe all sorts of unrealistic scenarios to support their position, tolerating high levels of cognitive dissonance, resisting changing their minds as long as they can hold out. Sorry I don't have a link, it was an interesting book.

Politics seems to attract crazy people. Rallies seem to attract violent people. Crazy and violent people seem to attract news reporters - "if it bleads it leads." Crazy violent people steal the focus and are a setback. Promoting good solid solutions is not as dramatic.

From the headline I expected to find a bunch of liberal-bashing that would make me uncomfortable. When I read the article I was pleasantly surprised that it was quite balanced and not insulting at all. The article also shows: Republicans have in general a much wider perception gap than Democrats. People who share political articles on social media have a wider perception gap. Does that feel like an attack? Does it make you frightened or angry? do you feel like you have to lash out at me? Maybe, maybe not.

Ah, I see the confusion now. This article is about the "Social Justice Warriors" (SJW), a very vocal and radical subset of the left. I don't claim to represent them. The author of the article appears to be a liberal who is also frustrated by trying have a rational discussion with these SJW.

There are lots of factions on the Left, and it is a mistake to assume everyone is locked into a common groupthink.

As for blaming the enlightenment for racism, there may be some truth to it, or not, this article does not address that claim, which is what I was specifically asking for.

If you had a volcano that was predictable, so you knew where the lava was going to flow, you put your forms in its path and wait. Maybe the forms are made from something like plywood sheets that end up getting burnt completely, but leave blocks that fit snugly along that space where the plywood was before. Maybe the dimples on so many of the blocks are where there was a vent in the form allowing air to escape so the form fills completely.

Ah word-smithing, the favorite pass-time of law-makers. They are not banning the words for family members. They are just cleaning up some cumbersome language - changing "mother or father" to "parent", "brother or sister" to "sibling", etc. in specific places in this particular document, where they have specified a long list of family members that this particular law applies to. Thanks for the link - which I would call "watching the sausage being made." The poll workers don't get a much of a dress rehearsal, and they don't always get clear instructions, or understand them even if they seem clear. And they might not be good with crowds, if one shows up. A lot of this is unfortunate, and we have to do the best we can with what we have got. throwing out a whole precinct's votes because of one confused poll worker would be not at all fair to the people who voted in good faith.

Leads changing as the ballots are counted is very typical. I've seen it so many times, where my candidate takes an early lead and later ends up losing. The explanation: ballots coming from big cities with efficient counting systems often post their results first, while the rural votes take longer to tabulate. That's just the way these things go. Similarly with mail-in ballots compared to in-person voting. So those stories are not at all convincing to me, since I have been on the other side so many times.

I can't claim to have studied the rules of every state, but I would expect as standard procedure, there would be ways of verifying that ballots are not counterfeit, that the voters casting the ballots are registered, and registered voters are legal to vote, in every state, county, and precinct. That would be standard procedure, although each jurisdiction is free to make its own rules. I find it hard to believe that fraudulent voting on the scale to change the outcome could have occurred.

So sorry that happened to you. Stealing individual votes such as you experienced is a very tedious way to throw an election. While it might be successful for local races, it is unlikely to have an impact on national races where the margins are bigger. No doubt over the years there has been some fraud on both sides, there is a lot of history demonstrating that. And probably always will be, the stakes are high, it is so tempting.

If you want to change the results of the electoral collage, you have to change the results of a state or states that went to the other side, not a state that you won. Early returns often do not reflect the final vote count. Happens every election. This election was a bit unusual, usually the Dems are ahead early because the big cities are quicker to tally and report the vote, and the cities are more democratic than the rural areas. In this election the Democrats encouraged voting by mail, while the republicans discouraged it. Dems are generally afraid of covid and Reps generally are not. So of course the mail-in vote, which was counted later, was heavily democratic. The article claims statistical improbability, but lacks the mathematical rigor to prove the claim.
