It is tough to endure attacks like this. The best victory is having the ability to ignore them and also wish for them to improve as a person. People lashing out like this desire a mean negative reaction, as it gives them a sense of momentary control over others. When their own lives are full of suffering, this can bring a moment of joy. I think this is why people do it.

You really just have to ignore the haters and be confident in yourself. There is some 30% of humanity that is almost unbelievable in their immoral and thoughtless behavior, but there is another 30% that are genuinely nice people who feel the same as you do.

And we have to realize that we are doing things wrong from other people's perspectives. Everyone is the hero in their own story and what we think is right someone else might see as reprehensible.

Just be confident in yourself. You don't need others to tell you how good or how bad you are, they are just passing thoughts. The more you build, the more haters there are. It's just a law of nature. More visibility means more haters.

Learning to mentally discard irrelevant information is a skill that can be hard to develop, but is necessary to deal with the haters. Emotional reactivity has no relationship to truth or value. What will most quickly bore someone going for an emotional reaction, is to ignore them.

I hope that's helpful. It's a skill I'm still honing.

"I saw u/magnora7 being the target for name-calling in chatroom many times"

I've seen that a number of times, too. Fortunately /u/magnora7 seems to have a thick skin and he can shrug it off and remain sensible. That's not a skill that everyone possesses. But it's severely underrated in the modern age.

I really understand where you're coming from. I don't see how people can be so cruel or unethical to other humans. Usually things are done in the name of dogma to convince themselves it is the right thing, no matter the cost. But there are those rare gems of people that are 1/10,000 that do understand what compassion is and know ethical behavior. They may not be the smartest or funniest but they can really help people that need to see that there is a soul in someone out there. I'm a shit person, but at least I know I am.

Mind linking to your thread about game theory? That sounds pretty cool to me actually.

Your description about bullies in school reminded me of this anime called Elfen Lied. There is a scene where these kids (I think it was at an orphanage actually) were bullying this girl for being different. Turns out she really was different, not human, and she slaughtered them because there was no reason for her not to.

I don't see any dogma for spamming people on Internet.

But there are those rare gems of people that are 1/10,000 that do understand what compassion is and know ethical behavior.

Tell me if you know a one.

Of course people are always more vitriolic when they hide behind the curtain of anonymity, you see that on all social media sites.

Another observation that I've made is that the creators of many free speech forums and social media sites tend to have their characters attacked in pretty regular ways (calling them a coward, pedophile, etc). It may just be regular trolling, but it also seems like some of the character assassination / COINTELPRO techniques.

I think the whole world became a desert of empathy and sympathy. They did it more obviously on internet , but it doesn't mean they having more empathy and sympathy in real life.
