Remember when everyone was saying COVID is a genetically-engineered bioweapon cooked up in a Chinese lab?

And then suddenly we stopped hearing that, and the new narrative became how masks are stupid and no one should wear them?

Only ONE of those theories can be true. I'm betting it's not the mask one.

The potential risk of wearing a mask is feeling slightly uncomfortable. The potential risk of not wearing a mask is getting a serious disease that fries your balls.

There is literally no downside to wearing a mask. So who benefits from telling people not to wear them? (Spoiler: it's China)

Don't be a COVIDiot. Wear a mask.

My mind is blown every day by people who think the government is spying on them by forcing them to wear masks that make it harder to identify them.
Edit: I'm sorry, I didn't want to come off like someone who cares that much. Take off your masks, meet up at the big tree and cough into each others mouths, because that's your constitutional right.

that's non sense. it's giving people a false illusion of privacy. facial recocgition is already good enough that masks don't even matter. you would need to have a full prostetic face...then they could still track you by gait tracking.

Maybe by the best systems in a perfect environment, but on an average system it's true a facemask is probably enough. I think that many people have more reasonable concerns than that, it seems like a straw man to me.

Psychological, sociological effects are what I'm concerned about.

'Please wear a mask because you might have some hidden killer virus on your breath without even knowing it.' Think that's a good thing to sustain?

'look at Asia, they wear masks' - Yeah, and their culture is not like the West. They're glad to not have interactions with people throughout the day; a big part of mask-wearing in those cultures is to keep people away, similar to having headphones in on public transport.

Modern facial recognition systems are far too advanced to be stopped by a simple face mask. I think I read somewhere that just having your eyes visible is enough to identify you. So that has nothing to do with it.

Stop shilling, please. One can question the effectiveness and necessity of wearing a mask regardless of who engineered the virus (if there is one). Your source, aside from being a corporate media / propaganda outlet, doesn't support your claim, there's nothing about "frying balls" in there. There are downsides to wearing a mask, such as the cost and the normalization you're contributing to. And it's not China who's manufactured this crisis, it's the deep state, who also benefits when people do wear a mask. Did you partake in this community for months just so you could start shilling once it rises in popularity? Is someone paying you to do this?

The new narrative became masks are stupid? what are you talking about? fauici and the mainstream has been pushing masks from the beggining. now they have even got fox news saying it and they said trumps going to start wearing one. they have instigated mandatory mask wearing all across the US. people are getting pissed off about being told what to do. this isn't fucking iraq. we are not going to be forced to put something over our face. I suggest ceasing businesses from anyone that goes along with these orders. buy local food from local farmers. buy used shit off craigslist. use bitcoin or trade for other things if you can. let the bankers fall!

Except they weren't pushing masks from the beginning. At the start of the pandemic Fauci explicitly said not to wear a mask because it could be more harmful than not wearing one while also stating that we needed to save masks for medical personnel, because somehow masks only work inside a hospital or something. It wasn't until April they recommended mask use to the general public and the surgeon general even made a nice little video of how to make one from a t-shirt. It's funny in February anyone wearing a mask was paranoid and now anyone wearing a mask is a sheep. It's never been more obivous than now how easy it is to control public opinion.

I was preparing to wear surgical masks on January 27th and watched everyone act like the virus was no big deal (except in niche communities) until it was, and the narrative that one suddenly shouldn't wear masks now that the government finally supports it has bothered me a lot for a while now (although as a libertarian, I still do not support making not wearing a mask illegal, as I believe it is a personal decision people should take voluntarily, not because the government said so, but because it is the right thing to do). It's good to see another perspective for once.

God, yes!!! I have two friends who refuse to wear one, think its a conspiracy, and I asked them, “If they’re trying to kill us, who do you think they’d rather have live- the sheep (“mask-wearers”), or people fighting them? And what if you’re wrong? “. I got crickets. That being said, they’re probably right, but the risk does not outweigh the reward, IMO. And that also doesn’t mean I’m going to line up for the vaccine, either, but I continue to wear a fkn mask because I am not yet 100% sure of their agenda.

This is exactly how I've been feeling. people say "wear a mask" effort is a psyop but that makes no sense. The Elite/Chinese WANT us to die from it, that's why they purposely muddy the water and make it look as if "wear a mask" is propaganda. Then Zion Don comes around and his Qoomer worshipers start pushing "no more masks" shit. All the while George Floyd protests happen, and most people are exhausted and overwhelmed by the cascade of political and closer-to-home happenings and more likely to just go along with what their person says.
