I am doing fine, thank you all for your concern. Just taking a break from the internet for a while.

That was quite the break. Good to have you back. It might be helpful if you leave again to 'appoint' someone as the interim big cheese. It's been a bit dramatic around here the last few months.

How good is it to take this long of a break from the internet?

How is your mom doing? Hope that all worked out with full recovery.

Anyway, good to hear you're alive and fine. Enjoy the rest of your break, however long it lasts.

The break was worth it, highly recommended. Mom healed up great, everything is good. Thank you for your kind words.

Good to hear the news about your mom!

I seem to be having a bit of commenting burnout at the moment, and the blatant insanity in our society isn't helping. Did you still read posts about how our species is crashing, or was avoiding all that part of your break?

I'm wondering if I need to falsify my view of reality a bit to lower my stress level.

[–]magnora7 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah I literally didn't open saidit at all 4 for months. And reddit maybe 15 minutes a day just to read /r/conspiracy. I did use youtube a lot more though, I tried to watch fun or educational stuff only, nothing political or irritating. And I played video games and watched TV shows I like.

It's not so much about falsifying a view of reality as it is just taking a break from entangling the mess to focus on enjoying it, for a while. Remember when you were a kid?

And furthermore if you want to be an example to others, don't you think that requires living a life that is lower in stress, that you get enjoyment from? I've been thinking about this a lot. If you are stressed, it makes others stressed. So helping yourself focus on enjoying life, is actually helpful to others too. But that doesn't mean closing your eyes to the world. It just means balancing the fun stuff with the stress-inducing stuff. It's all about finding a balance on a day-to-day basis.

Welcome back! I felt an authentic boost of motivation seeing you return. Thank you for everything!

Glad you're ok

We've all been in a place where we've needed a break, I get it, and am glad to see you're back! I hope things are going OK for you and you're hangin' in there.

[–]magnora7 3 insightful - 4 fun3 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

Thanks, feeling great lately. The break was a great idea. We all used to take summer vacation during school, I needed a summer vacation from saidit after 3 years haha

The last thread I saw about M7 yielded one important clue.

The site used to have "canary messages". In other words, monthly he would say basically, "This site is not compromised."

Since he disappeared, those messages have not appeared.

For your consideration.

Right on, good call, thanks.

thanks for that

The /s/SaiditCanary posts were sporadic, only monthly at times.

Regardless, it's always a legit concern.

My view is that:

1) His original reason for avoiding Saidit was to spend time with ill family members, which I think involved leaving Texas to visit them elsewhere for a few weeks. Something at this time meant that he reconsidered his approaches to Saidit, and let Amelia and d3rr take over at that time.

2) He continues to stay away because of personal reasons and - because we like conspiracies here at Saidit, and because M7 mentioned that he had online enemies - I'll propose a conspiracy theory that he knew that he and perhaps Saidit had been exposed for 'hate speech' (something Amelia considered). Not that this is a major problem for cloudflare.com, particularly with regard to Saidit, but look at what's happening at other so-called "fee speech" right-wing websites. But all of this is backstory for the conspiracy theory. M7's open criticism of the Rothschilds and their very well connected ilk very likely made him a target - even if only a low-level target - because of his ownership of Saidit (a valuable and influential website). There is a long history of Jewish groups threatening influential people who could have an impact on the the wealthy Jewish population and Israel supporters (/u/Jesus has some material on this). A letter from one of these people is very easy to arrange, or from the CIA or the FBI, regarding hate speech or whatever. M7 knew that he could back away from his public role at Saidit, and much of the harrassment from these people would likely drop somewhat. It's also possible that there are legal problems with Saidit, and if so, M7 can't say anything during the legal process. Most importantly, his initial reasons for leaving were related to concerns about the health of family members. This is enough to change anyone's one's approaches in this manner at Saidit.

1) [...] Something at this time meant that he reconsidered his approaches to Saidit

Have you got something to support this? Can you expand on what /u/magnora7 said and what you mean?

1) [...] and let Amelia and d3rr take over at that time.

/u/magnora7 didn't "let" them - he disappeared and by default abandoned SaidIt. /u/TheAmeilaMay was helping deal with spam and became by default the only active admin. /u/d3rr had already quit unhappy with how /u/magnora7 was managing things, but to his credit /u/d3rr remained available for technical emergencies. In the first week /u/TheAmeilaMay messed up things enough that when /u/d3rr offered to step in she stepped aside and things have been running smoothly under /u/d3rr since, so far as I know.

2) [...] particularly with regard to Saidit, but look at what's happening at other so-called "fee speech" [sic] right-wing websites.

SaidIt is NOT a right-wing site. Originally called AntiExtremes.com, SaidIt is very much a centrist site and both founders, M7D3, do not consider it a free-speech site because it attracts asstrolls. Truth-seeking and free-thinking are some of the more appropriate terms you may use.

2) [...] A letter from one of these people is very easy to arrange, or from the CIA or the FBI, regarding hate speech or whatever.

I'm very skeptical of this. If they wanted to they could squash SaidIt.

2) [...] It's also possible that there are legal problems with Saidit, and if so, M7 can't say anything during the legal process.

This is a more practical and possible theory.

2) [...] This is enough to change anyone's one's approaches in this manner at Saidit.

He didn't just "change approach" - he disappeared, without a word, 4 months ago.

I spent 3 years building an alternative to Reddit to escape the censorship.

15 instances of this exact phrase (+ 2 slightly different wordings) on his first page of comment history. That doesn't seem like the m7 I remember.

But maybe he's just in a funny mood after months of not commenting.

Anyway, welcome back to the trenches of internet warfare!

[–][deleted] 8 insightful - 4 fun8 insightful - 3 fun9 insightful - 4 fun -  (3 children)

Wtf. That’s so sus.

That’s like shit tier bot spamming. “Spent”. He’d never talk like that. He’d never spam. It’s almost like his account is hypothetically compromised.

Sus as fuck. I hope it is him, but weird.

im making no claims don’t get mad @ me pls

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 6 fun4 insightful - 5 fun5 insightful - 6 fun -  (1 child)

That’s like shit tier bot spamming. “Spent”.

With good marketing we'd have no marketing at all :D

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

The word “spent” tho versus “created”.

“I spent 3 years”.

“Spent” is the past-tense - that means he’s not working on saidit (the advertised site) anymore (so why is he advertising it?). And it’s spammed across different subs.. magnora would talk about the site if he were advertising it and why he made it.. this is rushed..

And to spam it like that, which is something magnora would never do & and never did.. and to login to magnora7 on reddit, but not stop by here just to say hello, even to a few people in PM’s?

idk man I’m sus. Call me paranoid and I’ll accept it.

I hope it is him.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yep - very unusual for M7. Hope he's OK.

[–]brbmodule 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

"trenches of internet warfare" nicely put - would love to see a map of that battleground once. on that map we would see that the saiddit pocket is beeing overrun by deserters from a different frontline. we would also note a slight influx of righties, testing the waters here.

[–]Entropick[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

damn thats cool thanks.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Hey!! Can it be true?

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Can you send him an email?

His Reddit account appears to be hacked. He doesn't write like that, and he referenced his activity on www.godlikeproductions.com, which I doubt he'd use. (also: /u/TheAmeliaMay)

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

nein, i am not my brother's keeper.

I'm not asking for that

That's something at least, lol

[–]JasonCarswell 3 insightful - 4 fun3 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

No news is neither good nor bad news - it's both.

[–]Jesus 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

He's back on reddit

[–]JasonCarswell 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Me too. I was just thinking that 9/11 is around the corner and it might be nice if he weighed in on the 20th anniversary.

[–]Entropick[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I'm interested in whatever happened, that's genuinely intimidating, for him to vanish.

[–]JasonCarswell 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

It's genuinely curious, but I wouldn't say intimidating without any good reason.

Smartly, M7 guardedly kept personal information secret and secure. We have no idea what his personal life was/is like, and on top of whatever that may be, the world has gone insane with COVID hysteria and the global lockdown Great Reset has far reaching ramifications that affect everyone directly and indirectly.

Hopefully he's happy like /u/VantaFount who found love and another very different forum.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

likely dead but someone is still paying for this site. That's the real question, who.

[–]JasonCarswell 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

IIRC, apparently he had some real life friend(s) contact someone somehow.

IIRC, he had an illness in his family. He was also hit hard by the Texas ice storm. I have no idea how much either of these impacts his absence.

IIRC, the site administration can be accessed by /u/d3rr but there is no way to access the hosting payments, apparently covered by magnora7.

So far as I know, there is zero reason to think /u/magnora7 is dead or in danger yet.

[–]Node 8 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

In addition to the points you list, he was getting progressively (swidt) more and more disenchanted with the state of the internet, and the general insanity sweeping through our societies. The numbers of trolls, shills, and spammers probably didn't help. Plus, he had begun to distrust old accounts, possibly with some justification.

Hopefully this break he's taking is having a positive impact on his life and wellbeing.

And if he decides saidit doesn't fit in his life anymore, it would be really nice if he contacted d3rr to make transfer arrangements.

[–]JasonCarswell 8 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think he saw the worst of it too. Loki didn't help.

Hopefully this break he's taking is having a positive impact on his life and wellbeing.

We can hope.

And if he decides saidit doesn't fit in his life anymore, it would be really nice if he contacted d3rr to make transfer arrangements.

Yes. Perhaps he might even consider making it a little more fair with a trusted-team system.
