/u/Chipit is spreading misinformation

Take a look at this thread. Chipit declares The Big Lebowski to be cancelled for transphobia, but he simply links to the quote on IMDB, and there's nothing that backs up his claim. People read the title, get outraged and upvote, and thus misinformation is being spread. I called him out on this, and he failed to explain why he made that post.

Chipit does things like this constantly, and IIRC, it goes back to a long time ago. He also submits legitimate links. From what I understand, shills do that to appear trustworthy. I think he's clearly an adversary. How do you guys feel about him? Should something be done about him?

Chipshit is a confirmed shill. He's here to create division, and would probably like to destroy Saidit (IMO).

If you appreciate this site, then you may want to think twice about upvoting any of Chipshit's posts.

Chipshit had a previous account called Snow, which pretended to be a Chinese incel transgender.

We're also supposed to assume Snow couldn't figure out how to use spell check, or grammar checking software, as he pretended to have terrible spelling and grammar. It was stupid beyond belief.

This account was a serial harasser of various subs.

Later Snow, manufactured a hoax pedo scandal, which no one ever heard about, because it didn't happen.

Snow then posted this hoax to at least two social media sites where they were ignored (for obvious reasons).

Snow then leveraged a parallel account (Chipit) to find this manufactured nonsense, and posted links to the hoax here, where it was also ignored.

Snow/chipshit also deleted the Snow account, so we can't see the history.

So, Chipit renamed the submission and posted it again. It was finally acknowledge, and easily debunked.

This hair brained hoax was every bit as absurd as the recent Lebowski post. A nothing burger.

Don't take my word for it. Search for "Snow" and you'll probably find a sub or two dedicated to this Snow/Chipshit character, because people hated him.
They are one, and the same.

I think he's clearly an adversary.

M7 is aware of Chipshit/Snow.

Most people would have banned Chipit already.

M7 deserves credit for his patience and tolerance (IMHO).

Excluding censorship of Chipshit's account, there aren't any obvious solutions.

We'd probably end up seeing posts from Chipshit1, and Chipshit2, etc.

I'll continue to call out his nonsense when I see it, and notify the newcomers about his nonsense, and history.

      That part is not changed, but deactivating your account does not delete your comments and posts. So snow used a comment deleting script as is common on reddit, it marked all 1k of zhes stuff as deleted, but then sometime later we started showing 10k items of content, so stuff snow couldn't see or delete at the time is now showing. Sorry snow.

        I have yet to see proof that /u/Chipit is actually /u/Snow (or I forgot it, though I think I would have remembered that). It's /u/Tom_Bombadil who keeps saying so. Perhaps a few others once did but have long since stopped. Tom is not shy of calling people shill, which is his right, but generally I prefer to simply say they're behaving like shills, leaving room for their brainwashed stupidity.                             If you're actually worried about quality, this website is full of people that don't cite and post misleading links. I made a big post about it, seemed like people are divided about it. The facts are that mods are rare here, so content just needs to be inflammatory to reach the front page and stay there. A post like the one you link is, without a doubt, a lazy shitpost, but it will stay up because 20people, like you say, auto upvote when they see tranny in the headline. The only hard-bans are coming from M7, and that only happens if there's a call for violence or the user is being extremely rude/uncivil in addition to pyramid violations. You can see in magnora7's response here , which answers your question. They don't have the resources or manpower to actually police content, one man can't do it all. It sounds like even the status quo running saidit is unsustainable, so I would doubt any serious changes would be realistic.

I hate cancel culture just as much as the average person here, and if you read my post carefully, you'll see that I wasn't defending it. But let me be clear here. His post wasn't just lazy clickbait; he's literally making up a story, claiming that TBL is being cancelled for transphobia when there's no indication of that whatsoever. Instead of linking to an article about supposed transphobia in TBL, he simply links to the quote page on IMDB. It points to malicious intent. And again, this is a repeat offense.

                            You're right, shill may be the wrong word. I suspect that the intended effect is something along these lines: someone just reads the title, assumes it to be true, talks about it with others, and then discovers that TBL isn't being cancelled at all. As a result of this, they will start doubting other things they read here as well, and no longer have the confidence to mention them out loud, so that fewer people will hear about those things. Or they just want to reduce the quality of the website so that it repels intelligent people and becomes a far-right echochamber. Voatification, if you will. And to polarize people, so as to create division. These things may sound far-fetched, but shilling is very common. For example, there are hundreds of thousands of people who shill for Israel on a voluntary basis. They download an app that notifies them of opportunities to shill. And intelligence agencies have enormous budgets, of course. Attempting to destroy Saidit and similar sites would be a tiny project for them. I'm not saying that this is what's going on – I really don't know. But I suspect it's something along these lines.

                              I've only blocked trolls that demand people block them (strange, but it happened atleast once) and those who follow and harrass but don't stop even after being called out on it.

                              So uh, in case I blocked chipit, has he posted in this thread? If he hasn't, then that's suspicious. If so, then I don't need to know what one of the few users I have blocked is saying.

                              I think it conflates bad content with just spam or neutral content.

                              As much as being downvoted for wrong think is annoying, not being able to downvote stupid questions or irrelevant content is a shame.
