you see robots on reddit saying things like "bleep bloop I converted your imperial measurement to metric uwu" but you don't see the ones pretending to be human or clicking on vote buttons to do astroturfing. if reddit did not have bots it would look like a completely different website. nowadays on 4chan you can buy a pass to bypass the captcha but I remember when they first added the captcha and did not have passes. the website completely changed overnight since everyone there was human. we do not have to use recaptcha or hcaptcha if people don't like them since there are a lot of different self-hosted alternatives. I can accept that bots automatically adding a mod comment to the top of a thread might be a useful feature but it needs to be completely obvious that they are not humans.
