I never believed in this until I met my current partner. We met in our 30s and both just...knew...pretty early on (if not almost immediately). I've had a couple long term girlfriends before, and this one has just been different.

I think love at first sight is a result of confirmation bias. Relationships are hard work. No relationship is perfect and some times people change and grow.

Perhaps it might be time to talk to a therapist to nail down what love means to you and what you want in a partner.

Ehh...”hard work”? No offense, but I’ve never heard a happy couple describe their relationship as “hard work”. True, keeping up a relationship takes effort, but from what I’ve seen, it’s usually effort you want to make because they’re a great fit for you.

If there’s anything I’ve heard happy couples say more than once it’s “it was easy”

Also, though I did say “sick of being played” lol, I did mean for this to be more of a fun disclosure thread to help bring a dead forum back to life. I am not in any mental crisis at all, but I appreciate you being a concerned internet stranger.
