Not a single issue voter and I'm not going to ignore racism, workers’ rights, climate change, etc. I would never vote for Trump. Never going to happen, might be a shock to you but there are much much larger issues at stake than the microcosm of "trans issues".

Are you talking about straight trans people, i.e. a transwoman who is attracted to men?

I’m a black woman in addition to being a lesbian. Never voted republican, never will.

but democrats are literally no better?

Are you truly telling me for the past 4 years Democrats would have been no better? At all?

I think Trumps fuck ups were because he's Trump not a Republican.

"Unfortunately" I'm not a single issue voter.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans have died because of his incompetent, borderline malicious handling of Covid not to mention the issues the previous commenters mentioned.

if this ONE issue would make you vote for trump after everything he has put EVERYONE through, then something is wrong with you. it doesn't even directly effect you. posts like these make question being apart of this group and others like it. yall really might be crazy. i don't agree that trans folks should be apart of the gay community, i don't want "transbians" to be a thing, and i really hate that they've overtaken the "movement", but that doesn't mean i don't want them to have rights. if they wanna "fight" for this dumb ass country, then go right on ahead. when it comes to lesbian and women erasure, that's what i have an issue with. letting them in the military doesn't do that. get a grip.

    [–][deleted] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I always thought the issue with then being in the military was that they'd need to be on meds all the time which makes being in certain places hard. But other than that, I can't see why they shouldn't be able to sign up like everyone else.

    [–]DifferentAirGC 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'm against trans in military because people with high suicide rates and mental instability shouldn't have access to guns.

Exactly, "put a gun to my head", what a ridiculous hyperbole. This person posted this and then deleted their account, like a coward.

Neither candidates give a shit about women but at least under Biden the government acknowledges climate change is real again.

I've been voting since 2002 (I was only 16-17 in 2000), and I've never voted for the Dems (nor the GOP). I never fell for the "lesser of two evils" bullshit white liberals say. But that has more to do with me being black than gay. White liberals are racist, misogynistic and homophobic. The Dems use minority/marginalized groups to win elections, but they will never liberate us nor allow us to liberate ourselves.

    [–]dramasexual 8 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 3 fun -  (8 children)

lmao am I the only one around here who voted for oranj man?

    [–]onetwothree123 7 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 3 fun -  (6 children)

No, I voted for orange man too. I don't give a shit about trans people in the military, but I care about the economy and bringing jobs back to the US (rather than relying on slave labor overseas). I do believe we need to work towards clean energy, and I do care about the climate, but I don't think the democrats have a realistic picture of what's currently possible with the technology we have. Innovation has never happened because it was forced out by the government. The other reason I voted for Trump is because I don't want the government to have a monopoly on healthcare. I'm not entirely opposed to the government paying for healthcare (as long as there is at least a small fee so people don't start taking it for granted), but private companies also have a right to exist. The government will not pay healthcare workers as well as the private companies they currently work for do, so if the democrats succeed in getting universal healthcare, I would probably have to move out of the house I'm currently living in, completely change my lifestyle, and I would lose my good health insurance.

    [–]dramasexual 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (5 children)

Yeah, I don't like Trump but I found him to be the best of two bad options. I also find it incredibly bizarre to watch feminists (here and on Ovarit) scold people of even thinking about voting for Trump and daring to consider themselves feminist and then gasping in overwrought shock as if they'd been betrayed when Biden did exactly what he promised to do on his first day in office. Like, this was literally in his platform. You either knew what you were voting for and didn't care because you bought some bullshit line about Trump being literally Hitler, or you didn't know, because you just did what you were told without bothering to actually look into the candidate you were casting your vote for. Either way, if you find this EO unexpected you're a fucking idiot.

    [–]ShotsFired 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

I found him to be the best of two bad options.

    can I ask why?

    [–]dramasexual 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

Aside from things like obliterating women's sports, I think people really underestimate how terrifying the democrats have gotten. This Orwellian censorship drive, the lying-to-us-for-our-own-good that many democrat leaders have engaged in. The idea that "dangerous ideas" or "dangerous speech" need to be censored and that anyone who says otherwise needs to be ruined. The wholly unscientific exhortations to "have faith in the science" (if you have to have faith in it, it's not science). The democratic party has swung incredibly authoritarian incredibly fast and it's going absolutely nowhere good.

Trump is a blustery narcissist, but he's fundamentally harmless. And before anyone says anything about the capitol riot, that wasn't really about Trump. That is a large swath of the country that has grown so fed up with our oligarchical ruling political class that they're reaching the point where they want to burn it all down. These people elected Trump precisely because he's not a typical politician. Trump isn't the problem. Trump is a warning. It's not being listened to, and that isn't going to lead anywhere good either.

    [–]ShotsFired 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I was expecting better reasons tbh. Those seem a little petty/childish to me. I can see where you're coming from though.

    [–]dramasexual 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Worrying about authoritarians having control of the country is petty or childish? I'd love to hear the reasoning for that one.

Actually nvm, no I wouldn't. Asking for an explanation like you give a shit when you're just looking for an excuse to namecall is not the kind of dipshittery you see from someone with opinions worth hearing.

    [–]ShotsFired 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

But I didn't call you any names... I said those reasons seemed petty and childish to me. Relax 😅

    [–]Anniesworld 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Nope I voted for him too and got into a few arguments about it in the last political thread. If you want you can look up my reasons for voting ( link below)since I had to defend myself from people who think lesbians should owe loyalty to the democratic party and seem to not be able to click direct links supporting my reasons for thinking trump's not what they think.

I wanted to call out lavalanch17 since she once again is being a little bit nasty to people with opposing views. I highly doubt you are a lawyer, you can't argue effectively. As shown by the linked thread. ( I hope that your personal life is doing better lavalanch17)

Trump did a great job with everything he promised he was going to do. I think it’s unfortunate how the media and the left demonized him and the Republican Party. I voted for Trump because I liked him, I liked what he was doing for the economy, I liked how he was doing what he said he was going to do before he got elected with tax reform. His tax reform plans were some of the best this country has had in a very long time by the way and what he was planning on doing for taxes if he has been re-elected we’re going to be so great and I think it’s really unfortunate that people aren’t going to get to experience that.

I believe in capitalism. I’m a day trader I do not want high taxes or socialism. I read 1984 in high school and what’s going in the world right now is definitely Orwellian and like scarily similar to that book. If you haven’t read it you should. To be honest it was already starting in 2016 before Trump was elected. That year was the last year I volunteered for Pride because they were correcting my speech when I was saying “hey you guys” because I was using “gender specific pronouns”. Society as become degraded not because of Trump, but because far left, PC ideas like that are becoming mainstream. Y’all we have to use this platform because Reddit banned the subreddit that we were using....that’s denying you your free speech...we weren’t using hateful language in there from what I remember we could freely debate stuff in there I think they banned it was the day I was debating socialism with someone in there and then poof it was gone. And here we are now.

I didn’t go to college because I wanted to work and save money. I didn’t see the value in college when I knew I had Google and I could buy books on my phone and educate myself in various different ways and knew I companies would still hire me and train me which they did. So do I want to pay for someone else’s student loans? Fuck no I don’t that is not my responsibility and it shouldn’t have to be. Biden is essentially a modern day FDR and if that’s really the case that’s extremely unfortunate for everyone.

    [–][deleted] 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (12 children)

You didn't go to college and voted for trump. Not surprised.

But yeah sure why not vote for the candidate who wants to GET RID OF GAY MARRIAGE lol

    [–][deleted] 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (9 children)

I make six figures and financially support my mom while supporting my self and hopefully one day a wife a children. So naturally no I don’t want to pay even higher taxes than I already do.

Please link something that says Trump wanted to “get rid of gay marriage” and I’m talking him saying this...You won’t be able to by the way because he’s never once said he wants to get rid of gay marriage in fact he’s the first president to ever acknowledge Pride.

You must have some ego that needs some serious stroking if you really think you’re better or smarter than someone who didn’t go to college. My god you poor girl. God bless you.

    [–][deleted] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

You're joking right? stacking the courts and the SUPREME COURT with anti gay rights judges? You're going to just ignore that? Also you must be kidding if you're going to regurgitate trump talking points. Obama established pride month and supports it with the obama foundation but ok.

imagine voting for a candidate who is openly xenophobic racist sexist and individualistic as well as doesn't believe in climate change and then having the audacity to pretend that doesn't reflect your education level.

    "poor girl" nice internalised misogyny

Oh and before you come at me I'm a lawyer. So try me.

Your opinions seem extremely polarized, those do not have a single quote with stating anything about wanting to get rid of gay marriage.

I’m sorry, but me being a lesbian does not mean that I’m going to be a democrat or liberal.

Just like you being a lawyer doesn’t mean you’re going to have tact, humility or class. Which you are clearly lacking and I hate to say it, but no amount of money or degree is going to be able to fix that for you. So good luck and God bless you again because it sounds like you’re really going to need it with that cold heart of yours.

    [–][deleted] 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Ah yes, me being holistic in considering minorities, foreigners, the environment and other disenfranchised groups is so heartless. But whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep at night.

    [–][deleted] 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Right back at ya Ms. Lawyer who’s under the impression she’s better than everyone else who doesn’t have her level of education.

    [–]Anniesworld 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Do you need me to post all those links for you again from our last conversation.

For your convenience I put a little link below from the last time I gave you some info as to why the judge picks are not super anti gay as you say and my responses to all the other reasons you told other gay woman why they had to vote for Biden.

And are you sure you are a lawyer, you seem to not be able to click links and read. I feel like that skill would be important in your profession.

If you need to protect your viewpoint to the point that you call me out in a separate comment maybe ask yourself why.

I’m not going to back down from staunchly protecting the environment, immigrants, people of color and gay people from the heinous nature of trumps BS. If you can’t see how he’s stacked the courts against gay people, then you’re deliberately closing your eyes.

If you want to stay ignorant please do so, but I’m going to share my opinion.

    [–]Anniesworld 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

If I'm ignorant then educate me.Why are you engaged in politics if you don't know how to talk to the other side and convince them. You come at people with opposing views with a degree of self-righteousness and anger. If you want to change minds you need to relax and discuss things with them in a rational way. Be willing to take others direct evidence to your world view being skewed and rationally consider if you might have been wrong about something. Then share what you believe and support it with some evidence, maybe you will change my mind and others. I gave you so much information, biased and unbiased against what I believe in order for me to make a balanced evidence based claim of why I think certain things. You are the one that just keep saying the same thing over and over. Can I ask what does that sound similar to, what organization of people take things at a faith level and shouts people down when their world view is challenged? - Religion. You should be able to look at your political party and find fault discuss fault.

Your approach to conversation is pretty good evidence you have absolutely no idea how to debate and if I remember rightly you find debating "tedious". You must really have worked very hard to be a lawyer since you hate a central part of your job.- I am impressed, I don't think I would have had the will power to stick through not enjoying any part of my work for as long as you have.

To answer your question, I asked myself why I need to call you out.

I called you out because I don't like seeing people use a career as a way to stop other people from engagement in a political discussion. Your words - "I'm a lawyer so try me". You are using lies in order to avoid making a real case for your views.

I'm not a fan of people like you.

Even though I don't like you, I do wish the very best for you. I hope you are in a better place now with your family.

Oh and if you need me to post a copy paste edit of our entire discussion I can since you still have trouble clicking on links.

    [–][deleted] 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Not angry and not trying to debate. It is pointless to debate against people who have the privilege to ignore racism, xenophobia and climate change. Good luck with your obvious anger though!

Also you keep thinking we've spoken when we havent. My family has always been fine. lol

    [–]Anniesworld 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I am a Hispanic woman of Indian decent. I've been discriminated against a few times in my life. I know how that feels so don't presume that I have never experienced it.

I say what I said about your family because the other day you seemed like you were in a bad place with your girlfriend identifying as NB. I have sympathy for that and for you if what you posted was true.

P.S. I am not angry Honey,I love political discussion, And I really really like it with you. 😉

I voted for Trump too, I also believe that the media paints a terribly inaccurate picture of Trump, the way that reddit paints a picture of lesbians (TERFs). The mainstream media and social platforms are Democratic run and tend to focus more on activism vs. journalism.

I believe Trump did a lot of great things for our country and is far from the demon that there Democrats want you to think. In text I think the Democrats are incredibly conceited, power hungry and self serving.

What breaks my heart the most is that having this opinion not only outcasts me from mainstream platforms, but also from smaller ones as well. I only dream that we'll get along again one day, but I believe things will get better for us all. We just need to hold on.

Most modern day republicans/conservatives don’t hate gay people and most want them to have the right to marry so that’s a pretty archaic observation on your part imo. We’re also not all rednecks and even if we were rednecks are pretty nice people if you ever attempted to hang out with people who weren’t just like you
