Welcome! Sounds like you'll fit in just fine around here. There's a lot of libertarians here, both left libertarians and right libertarians, as well as a fair deal of centrist libertarians. It's pretty nice tbh.

Happy new year btw!

Welcome to saidit! A nice combination of free speech and minimal trolling. Happy new year!

Fair enough, I'll keep an eye on you and if I see you using words like faggot or nigger I'll know you belong :)

lol 1 month old account trying to redefine saidit culture in a voat-like direction

Oh I'm just copying what everyone else here says lol. I'll lay off it that aspect now but I though it was what defined saidit. For the record i'd never heard of voat before I got here, I was a pest on reddit for a few months, trying to talk honestly in the prepper forum till a ban and then trying to talk some sense into the heads of the suicidal on the Collapse sub. Lots of razor blades on that sub. But before that I hadn't been a forum member for a decade, going back to the old Gold-is-money and aussurvivalist stuff.

I probably won't be here long, nothing personal, it's just that I don't engage in politics or wishful thinking about little people making a change, nor do I see the sense in outrage everytime someones supposed civil rights are stomped on, like that hasn't been happening over there for the last 300 odd years! If you think I don't fit just say the word magnora and I'll close my acccount and leave you in peace? it's your ballpark after all.

we are a free speech site, within the pyramid of debate, and it that which defines us. It just leads to insults slinging every now and again

Stay and post non-political content. (although everything leads back to politics)

Many voat refugees moved to poal, some here, and some to ruqqus. No one went to phuks. Poal has a terrible UI, and the culture is somewhere between high school and troll. Like /b/, voat was never good, but it was quite the internet phenomenon.

Here on saidit, you get the free speech, but the level of discussion is typically at least intelligent, if not insightful on occasion.

What was or is your prepper level, on the scale of extra food and supplies to earth crust displacement?

on the scale of extra food and supplies to earth crust displacement?

lol. Lets just say I have enough iriver MP3 players and Win7 Pro laptops in emp cases to last me out. I think the secret, and I have said it here on a few occasions Node, is to move away from the cities, which I did. It's the logical end point not just for preppers but also a lot of just normal people I discovered. But you certainly don't want to rush into it or you could be like this aussie I knew on another forum years ago who bought a big property up in the dry, then sold that for a more pastoral one in the next state, then moved again up into the snow country, Fort Frostbite, he called it. He certainly made good profits for the RE agents along the way.

Do you have a bit of a prepper bent yourself?

Being prepared for emergencies, and potentially the collapse of human society, is a good survival strategy. Although maybe I should say 'life extension' instead of survival, because no one makes it out of here alive.

I was heading in that direction, but life took a twist. Pre-internet, I used to sub to a bunch of newspapers and magazines. There was a short article about a mugger in NYC that cornered an 80 year old woman in an elevator, and had planned to rob her. However, this 80 year old woman pulled an 8 inch hatpin and backed him into the corner. His quote to the cops: You always hear about this kind of thing, but you never think it will happen to you.

That's a good story, I guess the mugger didn't have much resolve. I've read a bit lately about force of will and seen it in people, people who do amazing things just because they determine they will. Yes life does end for all of us eventually but I determined I wanted to see it our in relative comfort and safety. Real comfort, not the TV retirement ad image. But more than that, see it out under my own control, not the control of squads of police and petty government officials restricting when and how I can go for a walk, water my lawn or grow some vegetables.
