Welcome friend. We are losing the internet to communist technocrats.

[–]magnora7 19 insightful - 3 fun19 insightful - 2 fun20 insightful - 3 fun -  (14 children)

Not even just communist, but authoritarian technocrats.

There's all shades of authoritarians pushing their censorship. If you want to see right-wing authoritarian censorship, go to thedonald.win and post something like "Zionists control this website" or a factual negative thing about Trump, and watch it disappear.

The left-backed censorship is just more obvious because they have control of more major websites, like reddit. But sites like thedonald.win and voat show that the right is doing the same thing if given the chance.

So I think it's really an authoritarian vs anti-authoritarian thing, more than a right vs left thing.

It's like this political cartoon: https://grrrgraphics.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/march_of_tyranny1.jpg

You're not wrong. thedonald has been Zionist cancer since Trump won the nomination of the Republican party. thedonald is top down tyranny. Voat is the tyranny of the majority (democracy). You can post anything on Voat, but the down-vote system makes it an echo chamber because of posting restrictions on low/negative karma accounts. Reddit is the worst of both (tyranny of majority and moderators).

I'd probably be sitting at -XXXX karma right now if this site had down-votes, and able to post once every few hours. I have fun here, but it wouldn't be worth the effort if that was the case.

People can't be trusted with down-votes because they view them as "this hurt my feelings" or "I disagree" buttons.

Absolutely, and 4chan and 8chan. The whole "God Emperor" thing, Q, etc. As for the communities, it's the same cult of personality just on the right; plus unmentionable topics such as how come Q never criticizes Israel or Trump's ridiculous bailouts.

That's why SaidIt should always be anti-extremes, my friend!

[–]King_Brutus 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I don't think there's any censorship on 4chan or 8chan. At least in my experience I've seen the range of opinions even on /b and /pol which people constantly decry as FAR RIGHT NEO NAZIS and really it's diverse as any other site.

[–]BigNoseFloyd 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I wouldn't say any. Janitor logs have been leaked in the past and they're just as bad as any other internet moderators. The screenshots are pretty obscure but they do have their own agendas. Banning generals, weebshit, or people saying nigger outside of b

[–]King_Brutus 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I guess I've only spent a bit of time on /b not really any of the other subs so I'm not super informed.

[–]PresentableSonInLaw 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Might wanna look at it from a technology perspective. Digital technology generally leads to centralization and monopolization, which are naturally authoritarian. The remedy being the balkanization of the internet, what I expect to see in the coming years.

[–]hector_died_of_aids 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Digital technology generally leads to centralization and monopolization

no it doesn't. patent trolls through 2000-2010 is what caused that

[–]PresentableSonInLaw 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

It does, due to cheap scalability and distribution, general uniqueness of digital products, and sustainable competitive advantage of being the market leader, most digital markets will end up as a monopoly/oligopoly. This is in contrast with manufacturing and services industries.

[–]hector_died_of_aids 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

no

[–]send_nasty_stuff 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Hopefully we can for an alliance of anti authoritarianism and anti tech slavery. I think corbett has talked a bit about this. He was on computing forever recently and they had a quality exchange.

[–]teelo 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Whats the driver behind non-political censorship?

I don't have any personal examples, but I see interesting conversations on various gaming subs that get thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments before being randomly removed by moderators.

Just scrolling through /r/undelete I see a ton of front-page memes that moderators nuked. Do they not get that generic subs are going to attract generic posts?

[–]magnora7 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

It's about narrative control. You control the minds of the people, then you also control their actions by extension.

It's always about power and control with those at the top. That's why they're there in the first place, they've made their lives about acquiring power and control over others, and disregarded morality in the process because it only limits them

[–]teelo 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

But what control are they really accomplishing by censoring something that has already done its rounds, already got upvoted by 10k and seen by exponentially more?

[–]magnora7 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No, most of the things on thedonald are instantly keyword-removed by an automated system with in a second or two. And reddit does keyword removals now too. And voat will downvote you so it never makes the rounds in the first place.

[–]Hellothereawesome 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I think 4chat is government run anyways, after that one mass shooting the media attacked it and blamed it for not giving people's information to the government, and then it was overtaken probably.

[–]King_Brutus 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Well it's 100% infiltrated by feds and every major company actively monitors it for troubling content. Anyone who actively uses the chans and doesn't take measures to protect their anonymity online are fools.

[–]Hellothereawesome 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

They could do the same thing to saidit, hell if it gets big enough and doesn't cooperate, they can set up a mass murder scenario I wouldn't put it past them, we should prepare for that now... Saidit should commit itself to anonymity to the point where even if someone blows up a nuclear bomb saidit would be unwilling to let go of its privacy policy.

[–]hector_died_of_aids 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

ya just look at 4c's captcha and look at the network hosts it connects to. coopted honeypot af. (not discouraging ppl from using it, just know your opsec)

[–]BigNoseFloyd 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

They disallow any posting if you're using a vpn unless you buy their 4chan pass. Even with a vpn and other stuff I have no doubt if the glowniggers wanted to find you it'd take them an extra button or two to press.

[–]King_Brutus 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Wait holy fuck I thought 4chan pass was a meme, is that real?

[–]DooDooButt 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I'm somewhere between the left and right. I was on reddit for 8 years. Today, I skimmed the front page and all and left after about 3 minutes. It's mostly trash posts now. It's just got worse over time. It reminds me of Facebook years ago. The censorship and gender/race based subs that are allowed to be openly racist was my last straw. The reinforcement of stereotypes is terrible. Reddit is trash. I'm sad.

Worst offenders for me were blackpeopletwitter, conservative, whitepeopletwitter and my last straw fraglewhiteredditor. Racist or not able to have a real conversation without being removed or banned. The bots annoyed the crap out of me too.

And while I'm not as far right as it would appear most of saiddit is, I'd rather be here with you assholes then on reddit with with zero integrity and experience racism with extra steps.

[–]Girlwiththeraventat 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I'm the same, not really left or right. I'm certainly not radical anything. Reddit devolved to mainly shitposts awhile back but the 2016 election ruined that whole site. I hope this site will provide actual discussion even if neither side ever agrees.

[–]DooDooButt 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Agree, 2016 was pretty bad for reddit. You could feel it start to topple over on its self. I think the Donald sub (wasn't a fan myself) exposed a lot of people to the idea that reddit is something they could change/control/censor. This idea has run reddit into the ground from every angle. It's not fun anymore.

A few people mentioned that they think my belief that this is the most evil time on earth is hyperbole and very self centered. my reasons for believing this are as follows and I'll paste it on other comments saying same:

      • I believe this the time period that the proverbial noose has been tightened the most in the shortest amount of time. global debt has risen by 20% of the global GDP since the beginning of the covid 19 pandemic. 20 trillion to put a number on it.
      • guns are being taken away from people at an extremely high rate
      • many governments are spending/loaning massive amount of money without any oversight and based on false pretenses.
      • This is not effecting one group of people or one country etc. The freedoms of every person on earth are being severely limited right now and it's being done in a very round about way. I think about it this way. "Their" figurative and literal secret lie in complication. Not many people understand what the consequences of the things happening today will be for both their and their children's futures in terms of freedoms/opportunities.
      • I view the taking away of freedoms and the ability to ever fight back of everyone on earth as a greater evil then whatever evil effected one group or culture in history. subjugation of all rather than death/suffering/subjugation of few etc.
      • To elaborate a bit, I don't think the world as a whole has ever had their freedom of speech limited as much as is being done right now. Shame, which I believe is one of the most powerful tools on earth, is being used more than ever before to subdue any opinion/discourse that leads to the source of the biggest problems in the world. The power the media wields has even gotten people censoring each other. If you talked about the reasons why the powers that be might want people rioting, you are labeled a racist for undermining the ability of the black community to think for themselves. If you want to bring attention to the hidden wealth of the elite or their pedophile tendencies and associations, you're an antisemite or white supremacist. In one way or another, we're being trained to cutoff any discussion that leads to the most evil people and corporations on earth by calling the people that bring it up a racist. The average person is becoming a weapon to the elite without knowing it and that scares me. I believe this is a part of "the biggest evil" because I believe that our greatest defense against the evils in our world are our voices and speaking about the complicated sources of the problems at hand.
      • These evil people understand the average person is not able to understand the elaborate web of evil they've woven until now and are using technology to focus the attention on simpler problems that are manufactured and maintained by those same evil people.

I believe the execution of of the final stages of a plan to enslave the entire planet permanently is the greatest evil we've seen on earth. You are free to disagree. but that is my position.

Historians pretty much agree that the year 536 AD was the worst year. A volcanic eruption created an 18 month nuclear winter in the middle of the bubonic plague.

        You're being a melodramatic melon.

Free speech is super important though.

as an edit to this particular comment: I said the most evil. Not worst, bad, or destructive. The plights we are faced with right now are a result of evil human beings, not nature.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Agreed 110% — I think it’s important to be aware of how easily we can be influenced by propaganda and similar things — as well as how easily conversation can devolve to the lowest common denominator (soundbite politics are the worst imo and leaves no room for real debate) — all that said though - I prefer a place that’s free over any of what I’m seeing happening online today

"I think this is the most evil year the world has ever seen..." There's another commenter above saying the same thing, but please realize that this is cyclical. There are periods and locations in history that are more open, and other periods and locations that are more totalitarian. I traveled in the communist Soviet Union, and the evil inherent in that system is hard to describe. It's different from today's evil, but both share a common root: fear. So yes, we're in an evil space. But we're not the first, nor the last. Be decent and kind in ALL your interactions, and discover that this is - along with being incredibly hard to do (I fail far too often, though getting better) - the most revolutionary behavior the world has ever known.

I eventually got over the format of 4chan but the shilling is what makes it mostly un usable for me. I still browse it because it's really good at catching breaking stories but the sliding, trolling, shilling and other tactics are terrible.
