I don't like my job (retail) and I'm afraid I'll catch COVID-19 but I can't quit because I need money. I really don't like this time of year. This November is the second anniversary of my father's death, which I have never really grieved, and I don't have time to start grieving. And I'm in the US so this election coming up has me stressed and worried. My mother is a crazy Trump cultist and that's not fun to deal with.

But I will try to stay positive. I'm not homeless, I'm not starving, and I am slowly improving my life situation! Positive thinking?!?

That sounds like a tough position to be, especially during the pandemic. I do appreciate people like you working and helping others through this time! I was in retail and it is tough with brutal hours, rude customers, lazy coworkers, and tyrant supervisors...

Not trying to be nosy but---have you contacted job agency boards or those temp agencies yet so you may find new job? I hear there are some non-profit job agencies that help find you jobs and also help certify you---most times at no cost(depending on how much you make).

There is a nice Saidit user who help me with my resume too! I have crap job too, and I have decided to allow for pay cut once I find new job and just budget wisely---but I also have my partner for support and my brothers offered to help since they've been in my shoes before...I have a lot of pride and hate (financial) help but I'm starting to breakdown more and more everyday I work this job...

I'm sorry to hear about your father too! If possible, would taking a day off work be OK so maybe you have time to grieve and self-care too? Mental health is very important too! I realized that and started to take more PTO and...sometimes call out(which I NEVER used to do). They won't fire me though due to working on some important projects for the big bosses and I am not bad worker either...

Yikes! It sounds like the election is a very stressful time for many Americans since it seems so soon!

It'a good that you are able to see the positives! I just hope all is getting better for you! It's not an easy time right now, especially due to COVID. Please take care u/clitoriana.

My schedule worked out well enough so that I was able to get someone to cover a shift I had in between a few days off, and now I have 4 days off during the week of the anniversary. I'm going to take that time to do some cleaning and rearrange my furniture. That always refreshes me. Thank you for your concern, I surely appreciate it.

I'm alright, a bit overwhelmed by school because of everything else going on in the world. I'm interviewing for a new job on Monday, I really hope I get a better offer than my current employment :)

Other than that, my dad and I have started watching The Long Way Around (the show with Ewan McGregor where he rides motorbikes across Europe/Asia). It's really interesting and a fun watch to be sure-- I've veen enamored with Ewan since I was pretty young, haha!

Sorry to hear that you are feeling overwhelmed at school! Not sure what county you are from, but will you have holiday vacation soon at least so you can take a break from that stress? It seems this pandemic has taken a toll on many plus the other happening in the world(ex. Election).

Good luck on the job interview! It's always exciting to hear that you find something better than before and are moving up with greater opportunities! :)

I have not watched that show The Long Way before---is it some type of documentary where McGregor showcases his travels through motorbiking?
