I don't see why the US should consider joining Canada when a vassalage/forced labor relationship would be much more beneficial. The US can simply use its superior military might to subjugate Canada and ignore all human rights rather than bothering with a troublesome integration process.

I propose the US simply give Canada an ultimatum of handing over 50% of their maple syrup or else we'll kick them out of the NHL.

I hate driving through Quebec. The look on their face when you speak English...for fuck sakes it the TRANS CANADA HIGHWAY!! You should expect english speaking people!

If they combine though, where will butthurt liberals threaten to run away to when American politics don't go their way? We can't afford to lose that safe refuge for those special folks to turn to when life doesn't go their way.

My issues would be Canada would overwhelming vote Dems over Repub. I would say it would be adding an additional 20 million 'blue no matter who' voters to the US election. In the last Canadian election there was about 28 million eligible voters. I would be reluctant to say that Canadians who vote conservative would automatically convert to Repub. Would be lucky to get 5 million 'red until I'm dead' voters.
