USA left Afghanistan with a nominally-functional government, complete with an equipped military.

The taliban was the stronger force and acquired the weapons of the Afghan military when USA left

Well, if you’re going to spend 4 trillion dollars and 20 years to replace the taliban with the taliban, it would be rude to not set them up properly.

With all those weapons Taliban could be a problem for their neighbours, especially Iran (with whom they almost got into a war)

Also, if all the weapons were left there, the USA would have to buy more weapons from the companies that own the US government.
