              I've probably been the most fierce opponent of the Intelligence agency guys at reddit (at least from the side of the conspiracists) and I'm confident a lot of the people I've had arguments over here are pretty much the same guys. The CIA have clear philosophical ideologies and they have openly boosted about them over here. They tend to call me with certain nicknames at reddit, and I've seen them do the same over here. Saidit has been targetted in the past but not in a really large proportion. But then again you only need like 10-12 shills to control the content of the front page which is more than enough to hurt the site...

                Yeah, people need to counter the forum manipulation of the front page so it doesn't look like autistic nonsense. It should be one of the main priorities. It could be countered with the organic activity of the community but well, people tend to be overly individualistic over here. I do what I can by sharing interesting content but I can't guarantee my posts will reach the front page. Right now I'm focusing on trying to make my own subs/guilds better to see if more good content can be shared in an organic fashion.

                  I agree on this. I generally try not to use the block button as it goes against my free speech stance. However, I've modified that lately to allow for blocking people whom I find particularly abusive or annoying. Getting rid of them increases my enjoyment of the rest of the site, and it's better from a free speech standpoint than trying to get them banned.

                    Frankly a lot of this would be solved if people posted in the relevant subs. We have thousands of barely used subs.

                    But people have worked out that if they post in popular subs like s/whatever or s/news their post will get straight to the top of s/all and that feeds their ego. Maybe the mods of those subs should be stricter and tell people to post in the appropriate sub then delete the spam post. Those guys will get angry and bitch but such is life.

                    I've also seen a certain news spamming bot get round the fact that a story has already been posted on s/news by creating a self post and then putting the same link in their text.
