Female spaces that don't have as much censorship on unpopular opinion. The downvote system is AIDS, and feels akin to the already stupid social policing that women already place on one another for wrongthink.

I love how you didn't use "cancer". I hate it when people do that when creating an analogy about a problem which has a human to human contact transmission mechanism. You have my respect.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 4 fun3 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 4 fun -  (2 children)

Cervical cancer sort of has the transmission aspect, more secondarily but I get what you mean. Thank you though /bow

Cervical cancer. HPV causes nearly all cervical cancers. About 70% of HPV-related cervical cancer is caused by HPV-16 or HPV-18. However, most genital HPV infections will not cause cancer. Smoking can also raise the risk of cervical cancer in women with HPV.

MOST cervical cancer is caused by HPV, but MOST HPV infections, DO NOT lead to cervical cancer (that is, just because you have HPV, it doesn't mean cervical cancer WILL develop). Cervical cancer itself is not transmissible.

Now compare it to Devil Facial Disease which is affecting the Tasmanian Devil Population:

The Tasmanian devil (Sarcophilus harrisii), so named for its blood-curdling, nocturnal shrieks and snarls, is the largest of the carnivorous marsupials. Although once widely persecuted, concerted efforts are now being made to save the devil from extinction following the emergence of a fatal transmissible malignancy known as devil facial tumour disease (DFTD). DFTD is unusual in that the infectious agent is the cancer cell itself.

This is a cancer which actually spreads.

Small nodules rapidly progress to become large, multicentric masses with ulcerating, exudative surfaces

Exudative. Bleh, the visuals alone that word brings are nasty. This is simple of me, but it's depressing to see them in such a pitiful state. They remind me of oversized mouse-cats with an extra chromosome tossed in, and they're precious.

There is no downvote system here.

[–][deleted] 8 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

He was talking about Ovarit, and something we would want to see somewhere else. I like the way saidit is set up in that aspect.

Right.

It may be worth asking about and discussing next-forum voting stuff.

I'm guessing Lenny out of the box has up/down votes. I'd also guess it's not easy to change it or add an extra vote or 2 or 25 or even metatags (or something complex like MetaVote™).

One thing I know for certain: 1 vote = +1 point.

I don't like these:

  • insightful = +2 points (fun = +1 point)
  • downvote = -1 point

On most video platforms you see the ratio of like to dislike without meddling maths. I wonder if there are any Reddit-like forums that do that?

Saidit is like the internet pre-2005: There are no women here.

[–]LarrySwinger2 8 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

I notice more women here than in many other communities, actually.

[–]Jesus-Christ 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

There's quite a few radical feminists here actually.

I made that image. I planned to make others for future fora.

Perhaps your next post could ask what other simple hierarchical pyramids, Venn diagrams, political compasses, etc. could we use as reference tools and to self-regulate?

    [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

I'm actually a fan of self regulation, the old wild wild west of the internet when men were men and the women were men too, and almost anything went.

    [–]JasonCarswell 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

    Me too.

Voat and 4chan exist, yet I choose to be here.

I like very specific but very few rules best with an abundance of helpful guides that are good to point to. (I don't consider the PoD much of a rule, but it's a fantastic guide.)

    [–]Node 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I'm still trying to recover my enthusiasm for posting on saidit after all the recent discouragement. (two outages, attacks by TAM, the absence of M7, front page of spam, chipit, etc.) IMO, the only posts or comments that should be legitimately censored or deleted are those that exhibit excessive stupidity, are spam, or contain illegality. The PoD seems to inhibit interactions, and be the excuse of choice to ban active users.

You will be one dead mother fucker if I find out you live close to me and do this kind of thing.

This doesn't bother me, and I just told that asshole to fuck off and cry more. Also told him to keep his animals out of my yard or it will happen to him. Gotta love a place that allows this level of free interaction between users.

100% agreed. It's arbitrary enforcement and subjective interpretation is a joke. Yet I think it's a terrific guide.

Not a fan of those interactions but I'm also not a saint, nor pretend to be.

Asking women what they want in a forum is simping according to you. That's the dumbest fucking thing I ever heard.

      [–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 4 fun2 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

If you want to simp, I'm willing to show you my tits, since I sexually identify as a Black lesbian dwarf (my taste in women remains unchanged). Just don't complain when you're disappointed because I've had enough of your white male privilege patriarchy nonsense.

Simp is an Internet slang term describing someone who performs excessive sympathy and attention toward another person, sometimes in pursuit of a sexual relationship. Urban Dictionary defines a simp as "someone who does way too much for a person they like". Wikipedia

I'm not sure this post reaches the level of simping. I'm also a little amused by the latest generations feeling the need to revive the term.

We're making a new forum, there was a similar one Jason wrote for the alt right members.

Sorry I called you an idiot, this goddamned storm is causing me a lot of pain and my temper has been short.

A good search function, including search within comments, post content, title, by user, date. It's maddening to remember a post and not be able to find it.

I really liked voat's UI. Still miss it.

Also liked the Voat voting system. Free speech. No rules besides plans of violence or CP prohibited.

Keep the day and night time modes.

Keep the owners out of it. The power hungry modding gets old, fast, and makes me no longer want to use the platform anymore because there's no trust. Poal has crapped the bed. I think every message I send to anyone there is most likely reviewed if AOU so desires. He and the others like to gang up on people, as well as label people. It's their little playpark. I've not been labeled but it upsets me to see the behavior, only a matter of time before it turns to you.

            [–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

            Yes! Saved.

Search is critical, on all levels. If Lenny has shitty search like SaidIt then I would hope we could install a SearX server along side it somehow.

What specifically about Voat's GUI? (I only peeked a few times.) Do they have that on Voat.xyz?

No rules* means you have to wade through shit. Obviously you're here not on Voat.xyz or Ruqqus or Communities.win or whatever. What brings you here and not elsewhere?

Night mode is essential for me too. I also dream of having 4 user modes: plug-n-play, basic beginner, advanced, expert. Not everyone wants to tweak but many do.

What do you think of a site-wide trusted team? More than just a few admins trying to keep up. Besides the obvious ads, spam, and junk, all conflicts should be dealt with in a central court, open for all to see and weigh in on. Ultimately the trusted-team will weigh in with a verdict. Any problems with the trusted-team (ie. egos, biases, ganging up, etc) can be openly addressed and resolved.

            AOU?

            Prolix?

I'm not out to host a site, male, female, left, right, other, or anything tribal. I'm not even aiming to host a counter-propaganda conspiracy anti-authority free-thought site. Sites are centralized points of failure.

I'm trying to host a decentralized instance in a federation of other instances - ideally with a self-regulated community.

Also, please ping me next time. I almost missed this except I was curious about "what do you want in a forum?"

LOL. Too true. IMO too much is better than too little info.

Prolix: unduly prolonged or drawn out : too long.

            [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

First recorded in 1375–1425; late Middle English, from Latin prōlixus “extended, long,” equivalent to prō- pro-1 + -lixus, akin to līquī “to flow”; see liquor

I have no interest in hosting any kind of site, whether it be male, female, political, or else. I have no intention of running an anti-authority, free-thought, counter-propaganda website krunker. Sites are single, dependable failure zones.
