I lost over 5 lbs during quarentine and this morning the weight scale finally read below 130lb since I had my kid.

The world has started to waken up to the evils of the CCP.

A greater public awareness of:

  • media manipulation
  • regulatory agency capture
  • concerns about mass vaccination risks
  • concerns about government tracking/monitoring of private citizen activity
  • hidden "private-public partnership" agendas
  • increased interest in off-grid independence

Reduced traffic

I’ve fulfilled my dream of gardening. Been wanting a garden for about 10 years now but never had a stable living situation. Somewhat stable living situation now and I have a pretty good garden going. It’s not much but it makes me happy.

The purpose of life is the pursuit of happiness. Happiness plus gardening is a winning formula.

Good for you. I've had great success growing medical tomatoes in the past, but this spring I started a garden outside most everything was eaten by animals or didn't grow well. I did however manage to grow a bunch of real tomatoes and cucumbers. More research needed but I'll have better luck next year.

[–]KosmicDuality 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Medical tomatoes can be tricky, especially outdoor. I hope you have better luck next year! I definitely made some mistakes with my garden but I now know what to do next year.

Please tell me more garden details! And share pics!

I got my first potted plant after the office closed when we switched to work from home (just a simple snake plant) and my goal is to keep it alive. I have something of a black thumb so gardening is more like a thing I like watching other people do.

I paid off a bunch of bills.

We save a ton of money on daycare.

I've spent more time with my kids.

Three of my kids want me to take them shooting today. Will be doing that shortly.

I've gotten to barbecue and grill a lot more.

My employer is doing just fine. We've secured more projects.

I've encountered a lot more redpilled people.

The grass is green. The sun is shining. The range is mowed. I have a few thousand rounds of .22lr and an entire afternoon to spend with my kids shooting it.

Best answer ever.

[–]dissent 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Epic. That kid time is over before you know it. I wish I'd had the wisdom when younger to spend more time with them. Good work!

[–]Lostcarkeys 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No matter how much time we spend with them we always wish we had more.

I learned about conserving water by reusing "grey water" used during my shower to supply water to the toilet.

[–]magnora7 6 insightful - 6 fun6 insightful - 5 fun7 insightful - 6 fun -  (4 children)

Does the soap and shampoo in the gray water not cause problems? It'd be annoying to flush and have it fill up with bubbles lol

[–]Jalaces 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

I guess my soap and shampoo aren't super leathery. It seems to work fine.

[–]magnora7 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Oh it doesn't require processing to remove that stuff? That's cool

[–]Jalaces 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Not for mine, apparently. Ymmv.

My wife has become a more avid D&D player, and is even working on taking a swing at being the DM of her own campaign!

You should try out the Dark Sun campaign. One of the best for sure.

Try the Gloryhammer campaign.

Is there an s/dnd sub? I'd be interested in joining it.

I figured out how to use those cabinet hinges properly. No more improperly angled cabinet doors around here I can tell you.

[–]Myrkskog 8 insightful - 8 fun8 insightful - 7 fun9 insightful - 8 fun -  (0 children)

As a cabinetmaker, I can assure you that you have learned a valuable life skill. Just think of all those wonky doors you can now gap and angle perfectly. Go out! Go out and correct all those egregious cabinet wrongs!

My girlfriend and I had separated, but we’re stuck together renting during COVID and unable to go out. After a couple of months of that we realised how we felt, spoke more honestly than we ever had before, and we’re now planning marriage. Thanks, China!

I had time to accumulate and submit a huge load of data for a citizen science project that just began this year. Which will make the next few years of the project far easier than anticipated.

I finished writing a couple short stories and I'm working on another one. I reconnected with someone I haven't heard from in a couple years. I joined a book club and have been reading more.

My penis grew substantially. Well, it only looks like it did because I lost 20 lbs of fat. Long story short, I got in shape with the extra time on my hands.

I'm late, but I've been doing lots of gardening since the lockdown, including growing vegetables and digging flower beds.

[–]PurpleAmathea 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Please pay the plant tax and post pictures.

Is there an s/gardening?

I'm a senior citizen now and I have seen quite a few changes over the years. This year something good did happen. I see more and more kids playing outside. Whether they are bored to tears playing inside, or their parents have had enough and punted them outside, I now see so many kids riding their bikes, exploring nature, raising hell (kid hell that is) that it looks like my own youth. Whatever the reason, kids have taken back their Wildhood.

I have learned how long it takes to drive from point A to point B driving as fast as I can without any stops whatsoever.

    It takes 6 minutes, BTW.

I have witnessed the culture surrounding remote work change dramatically in my industry. People at all levels now cannot deny how beneficial it is. I see a future where we are finally free from the "butt in chair" mentality.

    [–]medium_tomato[S] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I actually kind of dread that tbh. I love leaving my work at the office, having a space just for work and a space just for not work. I don't want to be 100% reachable at all times.

    [–]whereswhat 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree there are some new challenges that come with it but it's all quite manageable imo. I make a point to log off the company network when the day is done and I don't give out my cell number to anyone I work with unless it is for non-work reasons. Overall, I am probably reachable about 40% of the time in a 24-hr period. There are definitely moments when it can be hard to turn off working mode though.

The ideal situation would be if we all had the freedom to choose.

I got a raise and a bonus. Taught my dog some new tricks, notably “bow” and “left” and “right”. I applied for and was accepted to an undergrad program. Learned how good rice is when you toast it in oil and spices before adding water.

Learned of to program for mobile, started doing a comic with a friend, been learning German and I have had time to rethink and correct my training system. Now I can be strong, fast, agile AND muscular. Before I couldn't never get arms bigger than 14", but after 2 weeks now they are at 15" for the first time in my life… got to get them to 18", though 😆

The extra coronabux went for needed things to fix up the house and land, tools, equipment, and emergency fund. The time off from being laid off produced a bigger garden. The gardening is looking like a small cash crop that might be replacing our income as it is looking like our job may not be coming back. Before March: barely scraping by working for someone else. Within next few months: barely scraping by but working for ourselves. Silver lining in this chaos that happened.
