If downvotes have any weight, then the site is open to bots downvote brigading just like on Spezzit

    Yes.

In a fit of rage and spite, I will now down vote your every post, and comment.

    But you can't! Checkmate.

Saidit's and Reddit's systems are already very similar. When two sides were arguing with each other on Reddit, each side would upvote posts that agree with their views and downvotes those that disagree. Saidit's system simply cuts out the part where you downvote the other side.

Reddit's system did allow people to show disagreement simply through downvotes though, giving them a little pleasure boost for doing so before moving on. Saidit's lack of downvotes means that either you step up and actually voice your disapproval, or you get to walk away feeling like you've done nothing to oppose what you consider a wrong opinion - as you should, since downvotes are not a legitimate form of argument.

Just go back to Reddit , NPC...Btw, Reddit was never worth shit for discussing politics. Always ruled by the mob upvoting or downvoting...not to mention NPC's botting with downvotes.

You have nothing to contribute other than censorship suggestions with your freshly made accounts. The question is therefor, who is "batshit crazy here", you or the people willing to defend their positions with sourced arguments and sound logic...

Just fuck off...Or don't, make a new account to suggest a different censorship idea, you bozo. You've been doing it for days, why stop now.

Uh, no. We already see what downvote abusing does everywhere else. I would much rather be able to argue on equal footing even if idiots don't read my replies, rather than ALSO get punished for those same replies by a bunch of cowards unable to actually formulate one.

    No.

We don't want another example of reddit which was slowly infiltrated and censored to the gills.

Everyone be cautious of posts like this also as this is how it starts.

    [–]galaxybrain 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

    No. No downvotes is best.

    [–][deleted] 8 insightful - 4 fun8 insightful - 3 fun9 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

Have you tried drinking water instead?

It could be more effective than making yet another fellow saiditors post.

    [–]Questionable 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It would invite retribution factors. Which would in turn cause anger, and bring about a circle of hatred between the users.

Saidit would become reddit. And then there would be no reason for it to exist.

If you don't like a thread, hide it. If you no longer wish to engage, disable replies to your comment. This is takes place on your end. If you wish to live inside an echo chamber of exclusion create it yourself. If you wish retribution upon others, go back to reddit.

The ability to mute users would solve the problem. From what I’ve been seeing it’s just a handful of the same people over and over.

    [–]goobandit 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The lack of upvotes acts as a giant collective downvote. Adding downvotes would just be redundant.

    [–]avena_sativa_3 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (10 children)

No. I'd rather "fun" count for zero rather than one though.

    [–]Questionable 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

The split is to push intellectual content to the front page, while still allowing incredibly fun content to move to the front page in spite of it being of a simpler nature.

    [–]avena_sativa_3 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

From what I've seen here people use the fun button as a downvote.

    [–]Questionable 8 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Jokes on them then, because it counts as a partial up.

If a comment causes me to genuinely laugh out loud, I click Fun. If the comment is particularly witty and well written, I'll click both Fun and Insightful. It's great to be able to appreciate wit.

      [–]ISaidWhatISaid 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

Wow, it never ever occured to me to click both! Eureka! XD

      [–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

you can also unvote yourself to start at 0 points! not as useful as the both vote but whatevs.

      [–]Chipit 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Why's that so incredibly important to you?

If you disagree, tell us why. Write something! Don't just have an emotional reaction to a logical post. That's why downvoting was disabled in the first place.

      [–]cybitch 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I'd like a "disagree", where people can express they don't agree with the batshit and the general consensus of users can be shown without hiding unpopular opinions. So, not a downvote, because it wouldn't take anything away from the post, but a way for the more "mainstream" users to demonstrate to the newbies that there are people here who disagree with a lot of the frontpage stuff as well and to show that there's true diversity of opinion on this site.

      [–]Questionable 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

If you disagree with someone, we will agree with your reply and up vote it. This is the best way for you to show your disagreement, and for others to show their approval of said disagreement. Limiting it in this manner will prevent retaliatory behaviors, and force users to express themselves with words, and not clicks.

      [–]cybitch 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Not everyone is going to be reading the replies. If people see racist topics on the front page and they can only see the upvotes next to it they probably won't bother clicking on the topic. At the same time, I don't believe downvotes are a solution because of what you said, people should be encouraged to discuss topics not just click and move on, also downvotes give rise to brigading which ends up serving the same function as censorship. Having a disagree emoji would be a good way to make sure the front page represents the reality of the site, so normies would bother to click further instead of just running away because they feel like everyone here agrees with that stuff.

If people sprout nonsense, what's the problem with ignoring it? We have to risk offending some people if we want to maintain freedom of speech.

Also, downvotes don't 'cancel out' upvotes on Reddit, there's an advanced algorithm behind it.

      [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Go on and keep masturbating on your own attention whoring every 5 minutes, OP.

You mostly don't even get off on it, ain't that right ?

That's how i'd feel about that.

They'd have implemented this, and i'd (including everything i shared) be gone in a matter of hours, i promise.

If you can't handle crazy (or rather recognize the worth in it) you're basically a troglodyte AND lazy af, imo.

i can't change, that you are a small numbnut sheep with a waay to big mouth, but i can change where i post my stuff in a matter of minutes.

Just go back to your facebook or instagram (or any other faked internet reality you obviously like so much) if you want it that hard. Maybe you can get off there.
