Probably a depressing washed out looking world where nobody says anything. Wait, that doesn't make sense. I don't know where I'm going with this. I'm way too pessimistic.

The technology will be cool but I don't think technology and quality of life are as directly linked as many believe.

5 years from now - sucks

20 years from now - awesome

50 years from now - sucks

70 years from now - awesome

Interesting take, could you expand on this a bit?

Well, that just seems to be the pattern. I think we are reaching peak internet in a way, and all the paradigms it is disrupting will reorganize in to something more stable as humanity becomes wiser about technology, and how to use it in a beneficial way.

I think we're seeing a lot of unrest, and it's going to lead to a period of reorganization, and then that will lead possibly to another golden age, which will then slowly decay until things are bad again, then another period of unrest, then a period of change, then a golden age, then decay...

It's like that saying: "Hard times makes strong men. Strong men make easy times. Easy times makes weak men. Weak men make hard times."

It's all cyclical, it's just a matter of how the frequency varies depending on the constraining factors, which includes technology, culture, how quickly info can spread, people's quality of life, the media, and many other things. So it can't be predicted exactly, but the general trend seems to have this sort of repeating cyclical behavior.

To expand more, I think the most interesting part of it all is that this cyclical behavior is becoming more and more globally synchronized. So whereas a few hundred years ago one country could be having a golden age, while another is in chaos... in 2020 everything is so unified that all the fates of the major countries are tied together economically, so these boom/bust cycles are global, and I imagine this trend will only increase. It might sound odd, but it honestly seems like the only possible counterbalance to this unifying trend over the long term would be for humans to inhabit planets or moons other than Earth. But humanity's cycles of revolutions and golden ages will become more and more unified as the Earth becomes a "smaller" place because of improved transportation and information transmission. I imagine world governments will eventually settle in to a global duopoly, like in the book 1984.

The trend of globalization concerns me as well. It's like putting all your eggs in one basket.

No more automatized insider trading then. Thats a fine thing, don't you think ?

Our communication time will always be related to our travel time. However if we were on another plant, it's hard for any Earth government to enforce their will. Just like when Europeans migrated to the New World of the Americas, it was hard for the old governments to reach.

    I hope we can avoid https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/World_War_III . That's all i hope.

Otherwise i'd naturally expect it to go in that direction. A Star-Wars-like-society for the future sounds like bs to me.

I imagine it the way the movie Looper portrays things, minus the time travel. I for one am looking forward to the drugs.

    Orwellian.

I don't think so. At least not here in Europe.

Everyone will be trying to cancel everyone else for everything they did or didn't do.

Humans will be subject to great indignities at the hands of technological "progress". Life will be greatly transformed into something unrecognizable. Society will exist to serve technology, and we will continue to be forced to compromise our rights and freedoms in favour of technological advancements.

Like the motor vehicle can be used to transport people faster than ever, but we compromise the environment and the freedom of the pedestrian.

Or the mobile smart-phone can be used for information and communication anywhere in the world, at the expense of our privacy.

I believe we will be forced to live under constant surveillance and the natural world will continue to diminish. There will be no autonomy. And eventually we will hardly be able to call ourselves humans with how transformed everything will become.

A cold war of permanent biological warfare perpetrated by unknown actors intent on reducing the world population by any means necessary. Offensive biological warfare is now vastly more powerful than defensive biological warfare.

Its not that easy, because nature had simply way more time. To agressive viruses e.g. die out too fast. Its a self balancing system of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotka%E2%80%93Volterra_equations . Most humans don't realize how small we are.

There exists eighty times your body weight in insects on this earth e.g. for you.

The far left will be in total control and we will all permanently have to wear tech/electronic masks that cancel the words that come out of our mouths instantly. Maybe they will even electrocute us if we try to say words like "all lives matter."

Idiocracy was supposed to happen 500 years from now, but it seems it's happening right now, so I suppose it's only getting worse.
